Regenerative Systems

Coalition for Regenerative Ecologies & Agriculture

The Coalition for Regenerative Ecologies and Agriculture (CREA) is a transdisciplinary project co-led by faculty at St. Philip's College and The University of Texas at San Antonio and funded by the USDA that has established a transnational collective supporting regenerative ecological and agricultural practices with farms and cultural organizations based in Texas and Veracruz, Mexico since 2024.

Terra Advocati has been involved since conceptualization. We help design and oversee all aspects of the study abroad program, as well as weaving partnerships that create on and off-farm opportunities for student internships and fellowships in Texas and Mexico. These opportunities support local regenerative agricultural partners, and give students real-world, hands on experience.

Hill Country Headwaters

A program and network to address the Texas water crisis by recharging the headwaters of our Hill Country river basins.

Set to launch in 2026, this program will provide resources to communities and connect organizations, practitioners, operators, landowners, foundations, and policymakers.

Stay tuned!

Xilitla Magia

IMG_8759.JPG

High in the misty mountains above Xilitla, San Luis Potosí, Xilitla Magia lives where the sky kisses the jungle and waterfalls weave through the forest like veins of memory. It is a place where time slows, and the land speaks. A sanctuary where artists, poets, seekers, and wanderers find themselves drawn into something deeper.

Here, nature’s abundance invites wonder. Orchids bloom beside ancient ferns, birdsong echoes through the trees, and the shifting light reveals new forms of beauty each day. Xilitla Magia is being lovingly shaped to welcome travelers from around the world who seek not only rest, but disconnect, reconnect, and tap into the abundant light that binds us all.

As we grow, we are nurturing this dream with care, supporting efforts to protect the region’s wildlife, restore its sacred watersheds, and to honor the wisdom of the land.

Finca Oasis Forest Preserve

DJI_0455.JPG

The bottom-up approach to forest preservation and reforestation of over 1,500 acres at Finca Oasis creates a model for addressing the seemingly conflicting priorities of environmentalists and struggling farmers in similar.

The billions of trees that gave rise to Mexico’s eastern cloud forests pull water out of the ground and release it through their leaves gave rise to a “giant river in the sky” that keeps the forest wet and provides rain for the fertile crescent that spans much of the Gulf Coast.

Finca Oasis is located in Mexico’s at the northern edge of that crescent in the Eastern Sierra Madre mountains, and in one of the communal farming regions (ejidos) established after the Mexican Revolution.
